Dynamic Positioning Simulator(Advanced DP)
Course 771

MPT is the most complete full service private maritime school in the country and has been training mariners since 1983. Our Fort Lauderdale based campuses host over 45,000 square feet of classrooms, deck and engineering training labs, the Ship's Store, and student service facilities.

Course Description

DP Simulator / Advanced

This course involves principally simulated DP operations including errors, faults and failures giving the participants the opportunity to

apply the lessons learned in both the Induction/Basic course and the seagoing DP familiarization. It covers the following topics:

1. Practical Operation of the DP System
2. DP Operations
3. DP Alarms, Warnings and Emergency Procedures

Ideally, the courses should be undertaken as set out in the Nautical Institute scheme. The sea time recorded before the Induction /Basic course will be no longer be accepted if you entered the training scheme after January 1,2015.

The Basic and Advanced courses cannot be taken in consecutive weeks (back to back.) This is because the seagoing familiarization gives the prospective DPO the opportunity to reinforce, consolidate and put into practice lessons learned during the Induction / Basic course.
